Horizons
Determination as well as strength speak from the facial expressions of the woman.
Her long hair blows in the wind, she knows where she wants to go and looks boldly to the horizon.
The Dimensions 437 series is my diploma thesis at the Academy of Fine Arts. It consists of 7 paintings showing two women with long black hair. Diana, the Native American woman, grounded in strength and feminine strength. Yutong, the dancer, light and flexible, always on the move. For me, both women stand for female expression. I got my inspiration for this series from my dreams. I dreamed of the title and immediately went about implementing it.
In all seven paintings the color phthalo blue dominates. In addition, I set myself different challenges in each of the pictures: an exciting perspective or the transparency of the clothing. In some of the pictures I continued to paint over the edge of the painting.
There is also a film about this special series of paintings that was shot at the Academy of Fine Arts. It shows the exhibition of the Dimensions 437 series and a musical as well as a dance performance with the two painted women, me, my art partner Alex Dolphin and the Improwiese, a music collective of innovative musicians.
